Most of us go for a photo shoot tend to choose good sunshine or bright day to get the most beautiful photos. When it rains, we may decide to take the camera away.

However, each type of weather has its own advantage. Rain is the time when people’s activities are rushed, for those who love to take street-style photography, they want to take these moments to put the “rush” on picture frames. let’s follow these tips to get the incredible photos in rainy days.

  1. Protect the device

Before taking a picture in this weather, what should we prepare? First, you need to protect your beloved camera from the rain. If your camera body and lens have weather shield, water is not a problem, but if you do not have one, prepare a dedicated raincoat for the camera.

This should also apply to smartphones if you are interested in taking pictures by phone. Protect your equipment in every situation to avoid unfortunate glitches occurring during the shooting. If the smartphone has the water resistant, do not be too subjective.

Once you have prepared enough equipment, go out and take pictures anytime. The moment will always be available everywhere if you know and carefully search. As mentioned above, I like to take pictures in street style, so the pictures taken in the rainy season can show the rush of people around.

  1. “Capture” the moments of life

There are a variety of places to take photos: from the alley, the street you live in, to the bustling markets. For me, the subject and background of this weather condition can take a lot of use, such as people flocking to find the rain shelters or hurrying to wear raincoats and hurrying to go home, the scene of the umbrella under the rain, the market under the rain, etc.

For panning shots, you first need to reduce the shutter speed to 1/15 second to 1/30 second. Remember to adjust the ISO and aperture to suit the lighting conditions. Then think of the subject that you are about to shoot, if it’s a motorbike, choose a shutter speed of 1/15 second, and 1/30 of a second for the car.

The next step is to wait for the subject, prepare to take panning shots in the direction of the car. However, do not stop at that moment, please take a bit more after pressing the shutter button, so the image will look blurred and the subject is actually “moving”. Note: This method can also be tried with any smartphone that has shutter speed control.

  1. Photograph lightning

The rain is often accompanied by lightning, and this is also a chance for you to capture the glare lightning. However, this is also a challenge when the lightning bolts are very fast and difficult to catch up. This is not wrong because the lightning occurs very fast, and the photographer must keep pace with the speed.

First, we need a tripod for the camera and exposure technique. Depending on the lighting conditions, we have to adjust the ISO and aperture appropriately. If in the dark night, we should set the ISO 100-200 and the aperture at F5.6 or 7. But if in the crowded residential area, we should close the aperture.

Next, we should guess which location will appear lightning, adjust to manual mode and turn the focus lens to infinity. You can adjust the shutter speed to 20 seconds and if there is lightning, you can capture the moment. In addition, there is a more flexible way that is to set the camera to Bulb mode and press the shutter button. Then start releasing the shutter button, you also use the remote control to limit vibration.

  1. Take drops of water

To capture the moment of water splash, we need to have a flash. Note to switch manual focus, find out the sync flash speed of the shutter and close the aperture below F8.

So if there is no flash? You can take advantage of the surrounding light source and create some other types of shots. If the light source is good enough, you can still capture the rain best swiss replica watches falling on the leaf by shooting at fast shutter speeds.

  1. Take the puddle reflection photos.

After the rain, it usually leaves the puddles, if we are creative, we can also create reflection images from them. Moreover, after the rain, the activity on the street will be bustling, so you can easily get the favorable photos. You do not need to spend a lot of time to look at the puddles. You just need to lower your camera to get a good layout, then wait for the decisive moment.

Apart from the methods we have shared above, there are still so many other genres to break away or create more.
